Workouts Without Weights - Amino Supplements and Carbs After a Workout

The purpose of this particular article is not to recommend any particular brand of amino supplements or protein powders. It's purpose is to briefly explain why having adequate amounts of protein in your system is essential for muscle building with any exercise program.
When doing a regular gym routine or a home workouts without weights amino supplements for building muscle mass is essential. There are many different brands of amino acids (AA) and protein powders to choose from. Some are in pill form and others come as powders. Still others come as liquids.
Gaining or maintaining lean muscle mass is best accomplished when you have adequate amounts of protein, or, more specifically, amino acids available for your body to use in building new muscle tissue after a good workout. Scientific studies, like one done in Brussels, Belgium, looked at the "Effects of a combined essential amino acids/carbohydrate supplementation on muscle mass" This particular study spearheaded by a researcher named Vieillevoye found that consuming supplements that contained essential amino acids, in addition to a balanced diet, increased lean muscle mass in individuals who were doing regular resistance training. This increase was even more significant for the beginner rather than the veteran resistance trained person.
Another study done by Satoshi Fujita and published in the Journal of Applied Physiology in June 5, 2008, found that it's better to take supplements that combined carbohydrates with proteins or amino supplements. This study concluded that when these supplements were taken after a workout, rather than before, the body was better able to build new muscle tissue and under go protein synthesis during the recovery phase.
While there are many different amino acids, and several that are essential, leucine enriched supplements seem to activate the body's ability to synthesize protein better. When leucine is combined with carbohydrates and taken after a workout the muscle building activity of the body was continued up to 2 hours after the workout had ended. This is important because the longer the period your body has to build muscle, the more muscle your body can build.
In summary, taking amino supplements is a good way to ensure adequate availability of muscle building protein and amino acids as a result of a regular weight training program or workout without weights. In order to build more muscle, it's important to take amino supplements after a workout rather than before. And, when AA supplements, especially those containing leucine, are combined with ca
